Sediba Hope Medical Centre is an affiliate of Participate Empower and Navigate (PEN), a non-profitable, non-denominational Christian based organisation that works in close relation with local churches, other NGOs and State departments in and around Tshwane. PEN’s vision is to ignite change, nurture togetherness and heal communities and it’s in this context that PEN works in improving the lives of the people in the city of Tshwane.
Sediba Hope Medical Centre has been established with the vision to provide affordable, professional healthcare to people living or working in the inner city of Tshwane, thereby contributing towards a healthier society as well as an inner-city renewal initiative.
Our conceptualised model is a public – private partnership whereby the medical centre provides funded services for at risk populations as well as private patients. Private patients living and working within the inner city can access high quality, cost effective primary healthcare services. This centre has medical scheme administrative capabilities that will benefit private patients who belong to medical aids for easy access to medical and pathology services.
Profits generated from our private model will allow SHMC to subsidise community members (i.e poorest of the poor) who cannot afford or access health care. These persons are screened through our Sediba Hope Community Centre and referred for medical consultation at the centre. SHMC vision is to became a future innovative service delivery pilot model for NHI with a focus on vulnerable populations within our inner city society.  Read more on the launch of The Sediba Hope Medical Centre as covered by The Pretoria News.

Once you step out into the street, garden or sidewalk, the morning-chill almost gives you a cold bite.  To some of us, winter is a time for tasty soup, scarfs and snug bedding.  However, for thousands of others in our city, winter is a different reality.  Add to this reality hungry children and this already promises to be a very cold, harsh and unfriendly time of year for them.

The ‘Winterhoop’ campaign will this year, see its 12th year running.  From June the 1st to the 20th, “Winterhoop” aims to collect blankets, warm clothes and non-perishable food. This campaign was started by PEN in Pretoria and MES in Johannesburg in collaboration with various organisations, social groups and congregations, nationally.  

During this time, all collections will be handed out to those in need and filtered down to other social organisations, shelters and partners serving the needy and destitute of our cities countrywide.  During “Winterhoop 2011” thousands of blankets and clothes were collected and this year we aim to play an effective role yet again.  

Donate a blanket or two. How about some of your old, yet decent clothes? Or non-perishable food perhaps?  Your contribution can bring hope this winter!

Yes! penKidz will once again be hosting an action soccer fundraiser on the 30th July 2012. The funds raised during this event, will be used for our 7 children’s camps throughout the year and our bible clubs that are presented on a weekly basis to children living in the Pretoria Inner City, Sunnyside and Salvokop. Our passion is to mentor and guide children from Grade 1 to 7. We tend to their well-being and the daily challenges they face such as poverty, domestic violence or playing a mother- or father role for their younger brothers/sisters.

The event is open for the public and we challenge Corporates, Churches and any other organisation that have a passion for developing our children, the future leaders of our country, to take part in this great event!
