More about us
The vision of this ministry was born at a time of difficult transition for our city.
The strong forces of political and demographic change that swept our nation during the early years of the 1990s were transforming the inner city of Pretoria at an incredible pace. The movement from the inner city and surrounding areas to the suburbs by the rich and the movement to the inner city by those who were in search of a better life shaped a totally new type of city with new challenges. This new city is like most other cities - it is a colourful place that many people call ‘home’; it is a place where a great variety of people from all over the world come together. Here the poor and the rich live in different sectors. It is a place where the forces of religion, politics and economics do battle to secure the places of most influence and where many people become victims as a result. In spiritual terms PEN believes that the city is also the seat for a deeper battle between the forces of good and evil in which love and justice fight against selfishness and injustice. The inner city of Tshwane forms the nucleus of the city as well as the focal point of this battle. It is here that PEN has sworn allegiance to what we believe are the forces of good and to the vision of a God loving community, living in the city, caring for one another by sharing wisdom, values and resources. |
