                        Wellness

The basic needs of our people are food, clothing, a place to belong and opportunity for personal growth. Our "Wellness" division tries to address these basic needs. PEN has developed the following programs and projects:

                        Social Services

                        Picture
Full-time social workers and part-time helpers see to it that as much as possible is done for those involved in PEN.  PEN assists families through food parcels and other needed services.  Close  ±30 000 meals are prepared per month in all of its programs, ensuring that most children and adults have at least one good meal per day.

                        Psychological Services

                        Picture
Psychological, occupational, speech and remedial therapy is given on a daily basis to children, parents and other individuals.

                        Social Housing

                        Picture
Social housing is provided to different groups in need of care: The Zama-Zama Shelter and the Precious Pearls Homes of Safety. The first of two Precious Pearls homes houses 20 children who have either been removed by social services from the care of their parents or are the unfortunate victims of the HIV and AIDS pandemic. The second home provides similar care for troubled teens who have also been removed from their parents, or put in safety. The Zama-Zama project is a shelter with supportive services for 10 homeless men who are involved in the recycling trade. Supportive services include an adequately furnished dormitory, cooking and washing facilities, weekly fellowships and group sessions, free medical treatment and immediate access to any other PEN services.

                        Community Outreach

                        Picture
Our Community Outreach Program focusses on outreach to Schubartpark, refugees in the Marabastad area and disenfranchised elderly in the inner city of Tshwane.  Through this program people are introduced to all of PEN's services, as well as other service agencies in the inner city.

                        Floodgates

                        Picture
FLoodgates is a storage and/or distribution service for donated clothes, food and other vital necessities. The Floodgates shop is an outlet where the community can access affordable clothing.

                        Sediba Hope Clinic

                        Picture
The Sediba Hope Clinic functions as a drop-in/minor-ailment clinic that serves any person in need.  It partners with a number of organisations in the inner city with the aim of helping and/or caring for marginalized people infected or affected by HIV and AIDS.

                        Supportive Housing

                        Picture
PEN offer affordable housing at The Foundation with 450 rooms and 12 apartments and at Sediba House with 42 apartments.  Residents in these units have access to the pastoral team, social worker as well as an excellent administrative, kitchen, cleaning and security staff.
